North Lochsa Land Exchange public meeting Nov. 24
The public is welcomed to attend
a meeting to discuss the idea of a land
exchange between Western Pacific
Timber and the Forest Service, known as
the Lochsa Land Exchange.
Idaho Senator Jim Risch has agreed
to become involved with this issue
and will attend a Nov. 24 meeting at
Grangeville.
“He has not taken a position on the
land exchange,” stated Mike Hannah
of Risch’s Lewiston office. “He will
attend the meeting with no preconceived
outcomes and will be there to listen. All
testimony will be taken and considered.”
If time becomes an issue, people will
be able to submit written comments.
“Western Pacific Timber has
circulated proposed legislation. It doesn’t
mean that Senator Risch supports or
doesn’t support that legislation in the
manner it is in,” stated Hannah.
Copies of the proposed legislation,
maps and other documents related to
this land exchange can be found on the
Western Pacific Timber’s website.
