December’s 2013 Newsletter IPA

Happy Holidays everyone. Keep warm is the name of the game these days.

A lot of great things happened at the meeting this month.

  1. We talked about the BBQ: This year it will be at Bud’s Saw shop during their open house in May. We will be working on the menu and such with Bud’s Saw shop. This will be also were we give away the Gas cards and Hats for the Trail Ranger program. We have things on display for the club and membership drive as well. We will be working on the schedule and such after the New year.
  1. Dave G. was there with information that is happening through at the state of Idaho.
  1. Against a Boulder-White Clouds Wilderness National monuments and unintended consequences

Pasted from <http://www.boiseweekly.com/boise/against-a-boulder-white-clouds-wilderness/Content?oid=3011498>

For more information about it please go to the above web page. It is well worth the time to look up.

  1. Liability for a Non-Profit  organization:  There was an action in the Idaho Supreme Court that makes it clear that a Non-Profit  organization that is holding a function is reliable for a person if they get hurt. If it is a free will ride. No body demands any thing. We just ask.

We will be looking into it with our insurance company.  We would still want the paper signed each time. But it might mean only club rides verses open to the club.  More at the next meeting. (January 8, 2014)

  1. There might be some more writing needed for  Dourshak Dam ATV writing. This is out of our area. But they do need help to keep trails open. And Dave will be sending the information on it to go from.
  1. Dave will be setting up  a meeting with Rick B (Forest Service) on the UTV rules.
  1. Election of Officers: The nomination are as follow: Pres.  Bob Mangold or Todd Stenzel,  Vic. Pres. Nate Gentry, Sec./Treasure Mary Mangold. The vote was over whelming.
  2. Josh came in with great news for the club. The trail work in Slate Creek is a go ahead. We will be starting on it in 2014. Yah. This will make loops for us.  Some of the work will be making more bridges, widening out trails, and move the trail out of the creek bottom.

We also brought up that we need a saw class in 2014. So he will make it happen. The other clubs in the area as well that need it. Those that run the saw will need the class along with a First aid card. If you need the first aid class please let me know. I will get one going. If you would like to be on the list for the saw class PLEASE let me know. So can let Josh know how many to expect for this club.

  1. Ok and last was the talk about the news letter.  We are still having trouble with people receiving the letter. You either change our e-mail or you forgot the pass word. The mailing to those that need it is fine. But we don’t want to mail out all the news letter Cost for stamps would be outrages. And the new sec. would not want to fold, stamp, or staple that many copies. So the mailing will stay the same. But the e-mails will be changing. Starting in March you will be having to go the web page to get you news letter. We will be working with Mary to take off the pass word part. The e-mail will stop. But if you would like to have some of the quick e-mail out (Brief things that I pass along). You might want to make sure your e-mail is on the membership form. We are hoping this will stop the bounce backs and the things like I didn’t get it.  We hope that all members pay their dues. So we can keep going. The club reply’s on the dues for mailings and insurance. Plus we need the membership Numbers for writing letters to keep things open.

Dues are do come January. There is a membership form attached to be filled out when you send in your payment. If the membership form is not filled out then the funds will be held till it is done. This is for insurance reasons and a paper trail for me or the new sec. Thank you
