Grangeville and Riggins Open Houses Scheduled by Forest Service

Even though you might hear rumors that the Idaho County Acre for Acre Swap is a “done deal”, do not give up because of planted or erroneous rumors.   A 60 Day Comment Period is available to submit your comments to the Forest Service.  Attend the meetings scheduled in Grangeville and Riggins to ask questions, understand the SDEIS and let your voice be heard.

The chief and single reason to oppose this deal is that it amounts to trading away public wealth in undamaged wild land for private gain.  [Scotty Phillips, Hailey ID]

The public is being cheated, for the benefit of a notorious environmental thug, and taking damaged goods in trade for the public’s pristine property in Idaho County.

526 Million Board Feet of Timber is up for grabs if Alternative F is selected.

Forest Supervisor Rick Brazell is reportedly not going to be present at either meeting.  Perhaps that will change, or the info received is incorrect.

There has been tremendous backlash concerning the Idaho County Commissioners proposal (ALTERNATIVE F) to swap acre for acre of land near Grangeville, Harpster and Riggins to Western Pacific Timber, an outfit with a not so sterling reputation.   IN fact, its downright atrocious.  visit http://stoptheswap.net for links and info posted about Tim Blixseth and Western Pacific Timber.

CLICK HERE FOR A COPY OF THE SUPPLEMENT DEIS recently released by the Forest Service to address the Alternative F proposal of an acre for acre swap of Idaho County Public Land familiar to most community residents as areas near or including:

McComas Meadows

Fish Creek Meadows

Cove Road Area

The Island – an area west of Slate Creek and the Salmon River that touches the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area all the way south to Rapid River.

People, if you care about these lands not getting into the hands of Modern Day Swindler Pirate Tim Blixseth and Western Pacific Timber, you will make your voice be heard both at the Open House meetings as well as in written form through the Comment Period.

Congressional Staffers for both Senator Risch and Senator Crapo were present at the meetings that Skip Brandt attended with Foresters in the spring of 2011 to identify the public lands that would be swapped.
