IPA Newsletter for June 2014

June’s meeting was called to order @ Hoot’s café on June 4th 2014.

Old business:

  1. Kirkwood cleanup ride: Was May 18th. Thank you to the small handful of people that showed up and was rained out. We talked about rescheduling it, but the report back from some of those that have gone. Is the trail is travelable. One big rock in it, and some brushing down low.   The discussion about the weather and that. It was passed to wait till next year. With the heat, dry and snakes are out now.
  2. Buds Saw Shop Grand opening to do the cooking: We are still in Limbo looking at July. We will be watching and waiting for the date. The hats are in and the gas cards are ordered. The hats and gas cards will be given out that day to those names on the last years trail ranger program.
  1. The Black Lake (Lost Valley Reservoir) Ride will be July 19th. This will be an 80-85 mile loop that day. So bring lunch, drinks and fuel. We will be unloading along the highway in a large pull out. The pull       out is on the New Meadows       side of Smokey Boulder. We will be leaving 9:00am form that pull out.       Don Eckford will be the leader for the day. (For those that are interested we will be camping at Zim’s that weekend.)
  2. Centennial Trail: The work days have been set for June 21-22. Each day will start 9:00. Most of the trail is snow free. . (For those that are interested. We will be camping in the landing before the Gospel turn off road on the left.) We hope to have enough people to go in from several directions to get the job done.
  1. Trail Ranger Program: three trails are open now ( Fish Creek, Milner, and 9301).
  2. UTV Rules: We are still keeping in constant contact with Rick Brazil. The rules still apply Straddle seat and Handle bars for the ATV trails. We are trying very hard to get it changed to 50 inches or less.
  1. The IPA stickers are in. At the next meeting we will be handing them out to those that have already paid their dues.
  1. We will be looking in July & Aug. for trail work with the Forest Service. Josh has set it up for us already. The trail opening and dates will be announced later.

New Business

  1. Josh Lattin will be leaving us. He has a better job offer in Montana. Can’t blame him. But this club will miss him. He is a great person to work with on and off the trail. He got us more trail work then every before and has lined up more work for when he leaves. Jeremy Harris will be our go to person again. We have worked with Jeremy before on other projects.
  2. Montana Crew is on the Swan Creek trail and 1847 trails right now.       There might be chance they will be headed to more of our trails soon.

Next meeting will be July 9th, 2014.
