UTV’s on Trails

Just a quick post for all UTV riders. I have been talking to the Forest Service about the Razor on ATV trails. (Razor is 50″ and we have several members that have them. So do to our STEAK RIDE this weekend. I needed to know how to handle it.) And this is what I have found out from them. This will be for the Nezperce National Forest.

On ATV trails, they are going by the straddle seat and 50″ or less. I have talked to the head office and Jeromy Harris of recreation on trails in the Forest Service. They both say straddled seat. The new travel plan is not out yet, which goes by the 50″ or less. So we still need to go by the old saying for Users on the Nezperce National Forest. “Straddle Seat and handle bars.”

Second thing for UTV and ATV users, Kids under 18 must wear a DOT approved Helmet. Your machine should have the following, mirror, horn and lights, along with the proper licensing.

If your child is under age with out a drivers license, your child will need to have on them the card that says they have taken the ATV/motorcycle safety class. This class is given once a month by us (the Idaho Pathfinders members). For more information on the class please call 839-2303 and get signed up. Classes are held in Grangeville, Cottonwood, and  White Bird. They are free to the public. This is the Idaho State Parks and Recreation class.

I’m sorry to bring bad news to every one. But I didn’t want any one getting a ticket on the steak ride. .

Please stay on trails and follow the rules that have been given to us.

Thank you,

Idaho Pathfinders Working hard to keep trails open to the public.
