April’s 2017 IPA Newsletter

April’s meeting there was  14 people attending.  The meeting started at 7:00pm @ Hoot’s Café.

  1. Snake River User Group Update: They are still looking for some one to represent the OHV users in the area. Steve D. is going but he is there for the business part of Recreation.Part of what Steve brought to the table was the letter that we all need to send to Kent Willner in Missoula.  The letter talks about pacific areas and trails that we need to keep open and worked on.  Some of the other key things are recreation sites, user groups on public land, promote shared usage, and create a balanced appreciation of resources in the area. We has a club are doing areas on the Nezperce, Clearwater, NRA and Payette National Forest. These letters have to be sent by April 15th.
  1. Don Eckford talked about the Forest Service not training ground people to do trail work. That is why not much is getting done for trails. Their big thing is the money they say they don’t have.  So Don is going to talk to the Forest Service about putting in for some of the Grant Money that is out there.
  1. Trail Work for 2017 will be starting soon. But for the Trail Ranger part. We will need to get all chain saw people saw certified and health card done. At this time we might be sending two people to do the two day class. This way they can come back and teach the others.  This is just another way they put things back onto us to do.  If any one out there wanting to be an instructor for this please let me know. Call 839-2303 or e-mail me [email protected].
  1. OHV Hot Spot/Show & Shine Will be May 20th. We are looking for help that day. We will have the BBQer down there and a booth.  If you would like to help out please let us know. The club will be serving hot dogs and Hamburgers.

At this time we have the following booths there: Idaho Parks and Recreation, Nezperce & Clearwater National Forest, Recreation Council, GEMS Trail, Lewiston ATV club, PLAY, Tackett’s Saw, Bud’s Power Sports, Mac’s Cycle and us.  Still waiting on answers from McCall and Orofino.

  1. Kirkwood Cleanup date set: April 22nd Leaving Lucile 9:00 our time.
  2. Big Canyon cleanup date set: May 6th brushing cleaning Leaving the Pittsburge Landing site at 9:00 our time.
  1. HMTMA is thinking about putting on an Education Safety training in June if they get some help. The instructors of IPA will be helping with it. We are looking at doing the  Fun Run the following day June 11th if we get the help for the check stations.
  1. Talked about the Web Page and Design:  Our web page needs updated and some other things put into place. But in order to do that it is going to cost a lot. We are trying to decide is it worth it or not. After a lot of talking  back and forth we decided to table it till the next meeting. And see if we can get Mary to come down and talk to us about it. Or get some more information on it.
  1. Next meeting will be May 3rd
  2. If you would like to help out or have some ideas PLEASE let us know.
