Happy Hot and Dry August. Augusts’ meeting was brought to order on the 5th @ Hoot’s Café 7:00pm.
There was eleven members at the meeting to go over the future travel plan mistakes and to talk about the up and coming events.
1. Trail Ranger Program is done for the year. But and it is a Huge but, because of the winds and dead trees out there. Trees are still coming down. So please if you are out there cut them out. They need to be at least 8ft wide on the trail.
For next year we are going to start putting together CLUB work days for some of the trails. These trails will be done during Club days. They will be posted in next years news letter. The area’s of concern are: Centennial trail, and all the trails up at NcComas Meadows. Our crews are getting fewer and older. But the trees down are getting more and more. The crews are needing help.
2. Dates of up and coming events are:
Sept. 19 for rock hauling on the 313 drainage.
Sept 27th is a benefit fun run/BBQ for a family in Lewiston. The Lewiston ATV club along with the Lewiston RV center are putting it on. As soon as we find out the time and place. We will post to give help and support.
3. Are putting out there again. Is there any of you that want to go to Avery this fall to ride ATV’s. We are looking End of September or first of October. If interested give a call with a date. And we will see if it works at the next meeting.
4. Last was the travel plan: At July’s meeting Jenny Fischer, Ralph Rau, and Jeff Shinn came down to give us maps to go over for the travel plane. Jenny gave us points to look at along with trails. She also reminded up to comment on what we have commented on before. So in July we had three sets of maps floating around to go over and bring back comments to August’s meeting.
So with that we brought out the 2009 comments that we sent in. And we started looking at each and every one of them. For the most part all of the trails we commented on before have made back on. Some of them have a NEW number or name, but still on there. Those that we found not there we are sure we know why. But we will still comment on.
The biggest thing we found is the dates. Some of the lower trails do not open till June. Where some of the high trails open in May or are open all season. This does not make since. Since most people start using the system on or right before Memorial Day Weekend. We understand their reasoning is because of the Habitats of the animals. But come on. They have lived this long with us up there. And they keep having babies.
All comments have to be sent to Missoula before August 29th 2015. As a club we will be sending in right away. If you have commented before, please comment again as a concern OHV user. Each letter and comment counts.
5. Next meeting is September 2nd at Hoot’s café.
